At Chestnut Nursery School Sewell Park, we have a team of highly qualified devoted practitioners that deliver outstanding care to families from all different backgrounds. We believe children’s mental health and wellbeing is a priority to ensure they have the best opportunities to learn and thrive. The practitioners plan lots of activities around emotions, feelings and wellbeing to develop the children’s learning and understanding. We offer a range of physical activities, calming spaces where children can explore and express their emotions, and fresh healthy meals cooked on site by our award-winning chef.
We are lucky to have such a wonderful outdoor space offering the children lots of learning opportunities. The children are able to build confidence in climbing, learn how to grow vegetables, take risks safely, go bug hunting, use their imagination to build role play stories, snuggle up in our den to read stories and much more. We are very proud of our sensory room where the children can go to explore their senses through a range of activities such as fibreoptic lights, bubble tubes and the light table.
Book VisitFrom quite early on it became obvious I had a passion for caring for children. My journey began in 2013 when I gained my level 3 diploma in children’s and young people’s workforce. I started working for Chestnut Nursery Schools St Giles in 2015, progressing to a lead practitioner shortly after this. I later became senior lead before I got the opportunity to become Deputy Manager at Sewell Park in 2019. I had the honour of helping to establish the setting and creating a beautiful space for children to thrive and develop. After almost 10 years in the childcare sector, I felt I had gained the knowledge and confidence to take on the role of Manager at Sewell Park. As the Manager of Sewell Park, I enjoy being able to build and develop the nursery space to make a calm, safe and nurturing place where parents feel confident to leave their children in our care. I feel a key part of my role is building relationships with staff, parents/carers, and children to ensure they have the support they need to thrive. It is a privilege to be such a big part of children’s development. I believe one of the best parts about caring for children is helping them to reach their goals and full potential. It is so rewarding to know you had a part to play. We aim to provide the best quality of care and education for children to give them the best possible start in life.

From a young age I knew that I wanted to work within the care sector and after completing some placements within the childcare sector whilst at college, I knew that this was the route that I wanted to take. I started my childcare career back in 2007 working within a term time preschool and this is where the passion began. In 2014, I was given the opportunity to work within a much larger nursery and quickly settled in becoming the preschool room leader. This is where my passion of not only supporting children to achieve their full potential happened, but also helping support and train practitioners to deliver outstanding care and education to all children. Throughout my career I have had many opportunities to help develop nurseries and helped to set up a nursery within a large nursery chain. In August 2021, I was appointed by a nursery director to help them take their nursery to the next level and accepted this opportunity working as a deputy manager before eventually becoming the manager there. Throughout this time, I become more confident and gained a wide range of skills in running and developing a busy nursery environment to allow all children to fulfil their potential. I made the big jump and moved to Norwich from Essex in 2024 and this is where I found Chestnut Nursery Schools and fitted into a deputy manager role. The nursery has all the values and strengths that I am passionate about, with ensuring that children and their families at the forefront of everything that they pride themselves in.

I have worked in childcare for over 15 years in a range of settings and with ages 0-11yrs, and I am qualified with a Btec National Diploma in Level 3 Childcare. I left college and started working as a Nursery Practitioner and through the years have worked my way to Nursery Manager. I always knew childcare was my main passion and have enjoyed every aspect of my work since. I feel children require the best start in life and if I can help them achieve this even slightly then I feel proud and grateful for my chosen path in life. During my roles I have extended my knowledge by taking part in relevant training courses and use this knowledge to make sure children are kept safe, stimulated, grow developmentally, flourish in all areas of the EYFS and show them that when they grow up anything is possible. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
