Celebrating Thanksgiving at St Giles

At Chestnut Nursery School St Giles, we celebrated Thanksgiving by exploring a variety of vegetables traditionally used in a Thanksgiving meal. The children examined the seeds, discussed how they grow, observed the vegetables whole and then cut in half to see what they looked like inside. They then had the opportunity to taste some of the vegetables once they were cooked.
 
We also talked about the meaning of Thanksgiving, why it is celebrated, and that many people around the world take part in this tradition. The children learnt that people celebrate Thanksgiving to give thanks for the good things they have, like food, family, and friends. To finish, the children enjoyed taking part in a range of themed craft activities!
