Celebrating British Science Week

19 Mar 2026
We celebrated British Science Week at Chestnut Nursery School Markyate!

British Science Week brought an exciting buzz to our nursery as children explored a range of hands‑on experiments, including mini volcanoes, balloon inflation, colourful mixing activities, and fizzy chemical reactions. Using simple, safe materials, the children observed their volcanoes erupt with bright “lava” and watched in fascination as balloons inflated through their own scientific reactions.

Their enthusiasm was evident as they made predictions, described what they observed, and confidently used scientific vocabulary. Each activity encouraged curiosity, problem‑solving, and collaborative learning, creating a vibrant atmosphere of discovery throughout the week.

A wonderful celebration of learning through exploration and wonder!
