At Chestnut Nursery School Arden House we have been fundraising for Children in Need! The nursery took part in a pyjama day and children were encouraged to wear their pyjamas to support the Children in Need cause. All rooms had several activities supporting Children in Need and the children’s understanding of why it is important.
In the Freesias classroom, the children explored jelly play shaped as Pudsey the bear. The babies were very engaged in feeling the texture of the jelly on their hand and using different utensils to mix the jelly together. The babies also explored yellow water with coloured balls; the children spoke about the different colours and how they float on the water.
In the Lillies room, the toddlers explored a range of activities including making their own Pudsey bear using different mark making resources, using their gross motor skills to make Pudsey bear out of playdough as well as using various yellow construction materials to build their own Pudsey. The children then showed off their Pudsey bears to their peers during snack time where they used their imagination to explain how they crafted their own Pudsey.
In the Sunflower room, the children were developing their fine motor skills by using tweezers to find Pudsey’s spots, the children focused on picking up the spots and adding them onto Pudsey’s patch. The children in the Sunflower room also crafted their own Pudsey bear using a variety of craft resources. The sunflowers also talked a lot about why we are celebrating Children in Need.
All donations that were made will be donated to Children in Need!
