Infection & Medication Control

Find out about what to do if your child is unwell

Can my child come into nursery when they are unwell?

We do not encourage children to access the nursery setting if their wellbeing is low and are unwell due to the rigorous routines, they would participate in.

If I have given my child medicine at home, can they still come to nursery?

Yes, we will ask what the medicine given was and why this was administered. The manager will evaluate and decide according to the child’s wellbeing confirmation will be if they are ok to access the setting. If the child is displaying, clear signs of being unwell access will not be authorised.

Why does the nursery and the NHS provide different information on infections?

NHS provides general knowledge relating to infections. The nursery setting follow policies which impact the nursery setting directly. Our nursery settings care for children within early years and so our approach would need to adapt accordingly.

Can I provide teething gels or powders?

Yes, we do allow teething gels or powders. However, these would have to be opened on site.

Are fees due when my child is off sick?

Yes, please refer to your contract which will explain how and when fees are due. Fees are due as normal for absences around sickness.
