We are looking for a passionate, friendly and hard-working Lead Childcare Practitioner/SENDCo to join our nursery team based at Chestnut Nursery School Taverham.
This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, following a shift pattern. Taverham is open between the hours of 07:30 - 18:00.
The successful applicant of this dual role will need to be able to lead a team, have understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS) and have a strong passion for a child- centred approach to play and learning. As a Lead Childcare Practitioner, you are a key member of the nursery team, working closely with the families who access the nursery and being responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality care and learning opportunities. You should have knowledge of the Equality Act 2010, Children & Families Act 2014, the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014, The SEND Code of Practice and the Early Years Foundations Stage Statutory Framework. As SENDCo you are a key member of the nursery team, supporting children with additional needs to have full access to all the learning opportunities they nursery has to offer.
Being a key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families according to the EYFS.
Promoting and supporting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues.
Take necessary steps to safeguard all who access the setting, adhering to the safeguarding policy.
Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of the children at all times.
Flexible in working hours if required.
Support daily routines.
Follow policies and procedures.
Leading staff members and teams.
Light cleaning duties.
Maintain a high level of supervision.
Maintain confidentiality.
Setting and implementing IEP targets as well as recording and monitoring the progress of these.
Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of SEND Policies and coordinating provision across the setting.
Work 1:1.
Liaising with outside agencies.
Support with the completion of EHCP’s.
Provide advice for staff and support individual practitioners.
Keeping up to date with developments with SEND policies and documents.
DBS will be undertaken.
Qualified Level 3+ within early years.
Child-centred approach to play and learning.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Knowledge of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.
Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS).
Excellent organisation skills and time-management.
Previous room leading experience.
Knowledge & understanding of safeguarding (training provided).
On the update service.
Excellent understanding of SEND policies.
Experience as a SENDCo.
1 years+ experience.
Excellent understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS).
